Square Roots
Square Roots is a vibrant annual street festival held in the heart of the Lincoln Square (neighborhood) neighborhood of Chicago, along Lincoln Avenue between Montrose & Wilson.
Organized by the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce (LSRCC) and the Old Town School of Folk Music (OTSFM), the festival brings together live music, family‑friendly events, local food & beverages, artisan vendors, and community‑building activities.
Proceeds from the festival support both the LSRCC and OTSFM. The funds help with small‑business workshops, neighborhood beautification, artist‑in‑residence programs in public schools, scholarships, and free community‑based music programming.
Chicago
Typically held in July over a three‑day weekend (Friday–Sunday), from early afternoon into the evening. Location: Lincoln Avenue between Montrose & Wilson in Lincoln Square, Chicago. Easily accessible via the CTA Brown Line (Western stop).
Square Roots is more than just a festival — it’s a showcase of neighborhood pride, a boost for local businesses and cultural organizations, and a lively summer destination for music lovers, families, and the Chicago community at large. Because the organizers are nonprofit‑oriented, the event retains a focus on accessibility, community support, and artistic diversity.
