Star Farm - District Grant 2022-2023

Established in 2016 in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Star Farm Chicago is a nonprofit urban farm working to build a more sustainable and inclusive local food system. They grow and distribute organic produce through farmers markets, pop-ups, delivery, and a local foods co-op.

Beyond food access, Star Farm offers local jobs, vocational training, and horticultural therapy—supporting people with disabilities, employment barriers, and empowering women. Their regenerative farming practices promote both environmental health and community healing.

With over 50 years of combined expertise, the Star Farm team is committed to growing the next generation of farmers, food advocates, and entrepreneurs—making it easier for Chicagoans to live sustainably and connect through food. Star Farm is reimagining what it means to eat local, live sustainably, and grow together.
